The best thing about getting older is understanding exactly who you are.

Maybe this takes a whole life? I suppose that’s very possible.

But there is something distinctly comforting about figuring out what matters to you and then making decisions accordingly. And making them without apology!

I spoke to a few intelligent, creative women this week who are all carving out their own path. Do they have doubts? Absolutely! But they also feel really good about where they’re at. It’s not easy for any of them but they’re doing it, one small step in front of the other and figuring out things along the way.

They’re making time for what they want to do and for what their intuition is pushing them towards. It’s messy but at this stage, no one really has time for putting on a show. I think we’ve all decided that there is profound relief when we can exist as who we are without pretending we should be someone we’re not.

You know what they all mentioned, in one way or another? They’re spending less time on social media because they don’t want their decisions about life or self to fit into neat boxes or be influenced by trends; less curating, more creating. They no longer have the energy to hustle and comply and constantly analyse themselves.

Do you shun trends in favour of authenticity? I think it’s a natural part of ageing; an evolution where we grow to care less about what everyone else thinks for the simple fact that being who you are is effortless.
