I tried very hard not to start this newsletter with a rundown of the sheer absurdity of this season and yet here I am, really having to focus on the little things right in front of me; one thing at a time, one day at a time.
I am basically a December school shoe; frayed, worn out, my sole threatening to dislodge. That’s probably a bit dramatic but also, it’s not too far from the truth. Just this week there’s been a year 7 orientation and a year 11 college introduction, a formal suit purchased (pants yet to be hemmed), countless notes to be signed, lost library books found, special-food-day-for-one-reason-or-another ordered, dinners cooked and frozen, appointments confirmed, a Christmas tree procured. My lounge is covered in washing that needs folding (debatable how long it will stay that way), the grocery shop lasts a few days before I hear: there’s nothing to eat!!!! and I feel like I’m haemorrhaging money.
You, too?
