a gift from Georgie who I mentioned in cyclical care; these are the daisies that grow along the foreshore and are imprinted on the cover of my first book, Practising Simplicity. I’m taking it to the framer this week, I’m going to cherish it forever
When I’m not really sure what to do with myself, I revert to the very basic habits that feel reliable and comforting. It’s been a hard few weeks and the romance of winter has started to wane as the cold persists. This little seasonal slump is inevitable, as are the life experiences that force you to hone your attention on what matters.
I write a lot about figuring out what matters because for me, these things are a moral compass; they guide my decision making. They’re always there to come back to when I’m not sure which way to turn. In a post-capitalist world that is always encouraging us to be better, it’s easy to dismiss the small, quiet things that inevitably make us feel brighter.
