I don’t think there’s any point avoiding the issue at hand: yes, we’re hurtling towards the end of the year; no, there’s nothing much we can do about it.

I call it the ‘worn-out’ season because very intentional care is required to ensure you don’t fall in a heap. Of course, fall in a heap if you want to; it might be exactly what you need, especially if the pillows are soft and someone brings you tea on the hour.

If you’re feeling particularly weary, perhaps even a bit apathetic, you’re not alone. I sense a communal exhaustion that seems to have arrived earlier than usual, which is completely understandable considering the world we’re living in. I hope you’re etching out small pockets of rest in between all the other stuff. This is how you take care of yourself.

How to slow down when time is speeding up? Well, that’s a tad more complicated. And we can bemoan all we like but we also know that the next few months demand a lot from us, and at a time when motivation and mental clarity is at an annual low.
