Tend and befriend is a delightfully accurate way to describe a deeply-felt human need.
I just spent the evening doing just this; 6 couples around our firepit. Tending to our friendships; some spanding decades, others much newer - all deeply treasured for the sacred nature of "soul-sisters-and-brothers". The simplicity of delicious food from our local indian takeaway, cups of tea round the fire, chatting life. This friendship ritual happens regularly. I love that my 3 young daughters get to witness their parents prioritising friendships that are good for the soul.
Maybe it's just who I am now - love this, Jodi! And yes Rivals was so good, and that heart-to-heart conversation in the dim kitchen once the kids were in bed was so overdue and so real in the midst of all the extravagance.
Jodi, I’m reading your beautiful words as I tend to the house and all the living things at home after the school rush, thank you. I’m so grateful to have shared a very special sunrise swim with you, it’s a moment I’ll remember forever. Slowly, slowly I emerging from my own little ‘winter’, finding snippets of time to write and nurture creativity. Now with the focus of making for joy and connection. Thank you for an incredible 4 days at the Bay of Fires retreat, it was everything I needed and more. Xx Kate
