Dear readers,
A Monday note for you, because I’ve been thinking of the habits I return to when I feel off-kilter. When I start to ponder these things I think: perhaps you want to read about them, too?
Spring always heralds a shake-up of habits, because it’s the season of newness and this naturally sparks the motivation to be organised. I imagine you’re having similar feelings if you’re living in the northern hemisphere; post-summer, back-to-school planning in full swing. New season, new routines, the promise of a somewhat blank slate. And also the expectation that it will all happen with ease, which we know is farcical.
We all live according to routines and habits; they are the framework of our days. Ordinary life is full of mediocre repetition which, for many of us, provides comfort and stability. Lean on convenience when you need to; it’s one way to take really good care of yourself when life feels pressing and you need to slow down and prioritise rest. But also, as we head into the final third of the year, it’s a good time to take stock - figure out what’s working and what’s not, clear some physical and mental space, and mostly, return to the simple habits that serve you well.
