What do you like to do?
It feels like such a juvenile question, doesn’t it; something a four-year-old would ask a friend they’ve just met at the park.
But this week I’ve heard two different people put ‘creativity’ and ‘play’ in the same sentence and it prompted me to think about what I like to do which is just another way of saying: ‘this is who I am!’
We are encouraged to be authentic and honest; to acknowledge who we are, what we like, and what we don’t. But that’s not always possible in a world where normal life is a rush and a run.
I’m sure you know the feeling of hours evaporating. Instead of moving through the day intuitively, you consistently feel like you’re playing catch-up. You may have optimised productivity, but have you prioritised what matters to you?
I recently learned that a female’s self confidence is highest at the age of eight and doesn’t peak again till her early sixties. This means that many of us spend five decades navigating a profound lack of faith - in our bodies, our minds, our creativity and decision making.
