I agree Tara-Lee! I find myself thinking “yes, Jodi’s post will arrive tonight”. It adds a spring to my step and a little gentle excitement to my day. x
Thank you again for your words, so true! And I love that you added the family recipe, I love family classics. Would love to see more of these (from time to time) in the future!
"If you’re planning to conceive, currently pregnant or you know someone who is, please direct them to it." Hi Jodi, I am confused by this comment. I am trying to conceive and went straight to your book, but the table of contents started at the first trimester? Is there a section later on TTC?
There is a section at the beginning titled: "preparing for pregnancy" where we outline some practical steps you can take to prepare. We also outline the importance of understanding your care options before conception as the model of care with the best maternal outcomes - continuity of care with known midwives in the public system - is only accessible to roughly 8% of pregnant women and you need to call up early (literally as soon as you've got a positive test). It's a similar situation with private/independent midwives and some highly sought after private obstetricians. Until Australia funds the continuity of care model in our public hospitals (it's the #1 care model in NZ where everyone has access to their own midwife) it's going to be really difficult to access which really doesn't make much sense considering it's both the safest and cheapest care model. x
I'll also reiterate that if you are TTC and feeling challenged by the unknown and uncertainty of it, I see you! I can point you in the direction of some relevant podcast episodes that discuss fertility challenges and practical steps to take. Or perhaps you don't need any more information and just want to be seen and heard. Regardless, my inbox is open x
Hello from SA, it's lovely to read from someone also facing shorter days and cooler temperatures when so much of the global media is focusing on summer preps! Glad to have stumbled across your writing
Thanks for your inspiring words each week! I quit most of Instagram (only check it two days a week for maybe 2-5 minutes each time) and am so happy that you are including the 5 ways to practice simplicity in these newsletters now. Also I feel that I get so much out of reading them compared to scrolling through Instagram. I am looking forward to them all Sunday and once my youngest is asleep open and cherish it!
thanks so much, Penelope. I actually haven't done any GF baking since I was diagnosed. I'm a bit of a procrastinator when it comes to making new things. Plus, if ever I feel like cake, my local fruit + veg store sells the most decadent GF carrot cake. My current dessert of choice is stewed apples, thick cream and almonds. But you know what I'm missing the most? Porridge. I gave the GF porridge another go this morning but frankly, it tastes like shit. Ha! There's currently a study being done on oats and whether the enzymes are closer to rice than wheat...if true, I'll be all good to eat GF oats soon. Fingers crossed x
Sunday evenings are my absolute favourite because of these newsletters Jodi 💗
you are so lovely x

Hi Jodi, I am curious about what you listen to while you write.
Zoe Foster Blake's "music to write, work, study" on spotify. Highly recommend!

Always enjoy what you write Jodi, your words calm my mind instantly.
I agree totally with you, I find I’m a totally different person without social media.
I have gone without it a couple of times now and always feel better for it.
Thank you for the reminder. 😊
You're so welcome, Jo x

I bought another bag of apples and bananas this morning because the shop I did on Saturday is already gone. Madness! Thanks for being here, Melissa x
