Re. Why aussies don’t read more NZ books — I’m currently reading The Bone People by kiwi author Keri Hulme. It’s so beautiful. There’s also a sequel to Aue which is waiting to be read on my shelf too :)
I can't believe you mentioned The Bone People. I worked in bookshops in my late teens and I distinctly remember one of my older colleagues raving about it...it was one of those books that she sold dozens of copies of through recommendation. And yes, I noticed the Aue sequel. So many books to look forward to! x
Wow interesting! I only heard of it through an author who spoke at Byron Writers Fest last year. Found it noted down on my TBR list recently and finally found an old tattered copy at the secondhand shop. Funny that it stuck in your mind too :)
Beautiful Beautiful newsletter and honestly the absolute truth re the undie situation 👏 its reassuring that these things take up space in other people's brain. Thank you Jodi xx
Somehow, you manage to write what I need to read most on any given day. This is no exception. The overwhelm has been so absolute lately, and the weather dreadful, so reverting to a favourite book and a cup of tea away from my work for half an hour today was bliss. A balm.

It won the Booker Prize in 1985! x
I can’t wait to receive your book! I eagerly check the mailbox for it everyday. Congratulations again xx
You should get it any day now. Thank you! x
I love the other things at the end. I am getting good at placing holds at my library, and patiently waiting my turn.
I have a feeling that about 8 of my holds will all arrive at the same time. Lucky it's winter and I don't have any writing deadlines x
This book lotto win Jodi! Enjoy 🥰
A helpful post. Very glad to hear you and Sandy are still sharing morning walks.
Thank you, Caz x

Greta & Valdin is an excellent NZ novel!

Thankyou. This post was a balm for a frayed soul
